A first timer’s guide to Shanghai Disneyland 2024 (Part 4) - Disneytown
Things to check out at Shanghai Disneytown
Disneytown is a shopping, dining, outdoor and entertainment commercial district located right next to the park. There are tons of shops and eating places, one of which is our go-to whenever we can - The Cheesecake Factory. Singapore doesn’t have it so when we go to countries that have it, we try our best to eat there. We find the food delicious and the portions are ginormous. Prices are pretty high too but we figured we only eat there once in a long while!

There are also a big variety of shops in Disneytown, selling Disney merch (World of Disney), Disney items for your home (Disney Home), other non-Disney shops like LEGO, adidas, BAPE, and more.

There are regular shuttle buses that go between the two hotels and Disneytown. The buses actually alight passengers at an area outside Disneytown, and visitors then have to walk around Disneytown to reach Disneyland. You can find more details in our earlier post.

It’s really convenient to have all these amenities at the Disney resort, as there aren’t many other things around the vicinity. The resort is about 20 km from Shanghai city centre so it’s not exactly convenient to travel to and fro every day, multiple times a day. This is something that is present in Tokyo Disney Resort (Ikspiari), but sadly missing at Hong Kong Disneyland.
