Becoming a Castaway Club member

Dec 6, 2024

What is Disney Cruise Line’s Castaway Club? It’s like their loyalty membership programme, and it’s free. You basically automatically become a member once you start taking the Disney cruises. The main benefits are earlier booking windows and return gifts.

How do you become a Castaway Club member? The Disney Cruise Line website spells out the requirements and benefits of each tier. For the lowest tier, Silver Member, you just need to complete 1 sailing. This will allow you to book the Singapore cruise on 9 Dec, a whole 24 hours before sales open to the public.

The highest tier, Pearl Member, will require you to have completed 25 sailings with Disney Cruise Line - that’s a lot! It feels like these early bookings will mainly benefit Disney fans who are based in locations with a resident Disney cruise, where they can go on these cruises anytime throughout the year, over the years.

If you’re based in Singapore or in Asia, the only way to complete the sailings and become a member is to go on the cruises sailing from the other parts of the world. The closest Disney cruise to Singapore or Asia is Melbourne, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand. The ship that sails from these two locations is the Disney Wonder. There are also cruises in Europe, sailing from Southampton, England, and Barcelona, Spain.

Ultimately, most of the Disney cruises sail from the US. There are many different cities that the cruises sail from, such as Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale in Orlando, San Diego, Galveston, and even Alaska cruises from Vancouver, Canada. The different cruises go to different locations so some people choose their cruise based on where they want to visit.

Sometimes I get jealous of how the Disney fans in these other countries get to go on a Disney cruise anytime they want without having to fly somewhere else, or just a short flight. It does make it so much easier (provided your boss approves your leave days). But then we do get a home Disney cruise from 2025 for five years, yay!

For us, we couldn’t wait so we went on a Disney cruise with the Disney Wish sailing from Orlando, Florida, USA, in November this year, so we’ve become Silver Members! We’ll share more about that cruise soon.

Whether we do book the inaugural cruise or not is another story, given the expected crazy demand. We’ll see how it goes. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to getting some welcome back aboard gifts on our next Disney cruise!

You can find out more about the Castaway Club here on their website.
